Scarcity is the mother of invention. Econosto went looking for small engineering factories and foundries, which were modestly arising like mushrooms everywhere in the country. These entrepreneurs started to manufacture valves and fittings according to the designs and specifications of Econosto.The brand Econ®, which was necessary in that time because there was littleforeign supply, grew to become a household name. Econosto has contributed greatly to the improvement and development of new techniques for valves. A large part of the Dutch valves industry owes its rise to this period. By the way, this ‘Dutch Production’ is a typical Econosto phenomenon. As a mercantile house, Econosto developed its own products, to have them manufactured by third parties. This philosophy has given rise to successful business. One of the success stories concerns the rayon patent valve. In 1953, Econosto obtained the licence contract for diaphragm valve patented by a technician of the Dutch Artificial Silk Union. Econosto technicians used this design to develop the improved rayon patent valve. The turnover rose from several hundreds in 1953 to twelve thousand in 1960.
